2 projects finally done.

I started working on this so long ago... it wasn't hard or big... it just sort of got put on the back burner. I am trying really hard to get some of these projects finished up... that will all me to buy more yarn. It has to, right? Then I will be out or at least low on yarn! Here is the very popular Ballband Dishcloth.
It is brown and "Robin's Egg Blue"
I made Katie this ice cream cone from some scrap yarn that I had around. She loves it. If you click on it to make it bigger you will notice that there is a piece of grass on it... she was playing with it outside yesterday and I didn't notice it until I posted the picture.
I am starting a list of what I want to make for Christmas this year. It is starting to get a little long!!

Something Borrowed

I am so excited to read that Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin is going to become a movie! I picked it up along with Something Blue on a buy 2 get 1 free table at Borders. I convinced my book club friend Danielle to read them and together we got everyone else to read them. Both were great books... chick lit but great! I have also read Baby Proof and Love the One Your With... both were really good but not as good as Giffin's other books.

Even more exciting... I think we will have to plan a book club outing to watch the movie!

Just in time

My friend is being induced today and I am waiting to hear how things go. But I finished the monkey in time to put it in the mail tomorrow and with luck he will arrive at her house when she does with the new baby. I think it turned out super cute. I modified this doll sweater pattern. Mr Monkey's head was way too big to fit through the little hole on that patter. I pretty much knit 2 squares for the front and back of the sweater , seamed 1/2 way up, picked up about 15 stitches and knit the sleeves in the round.

I hope the new little guy loves him! He is so cute it will almost be hard to send him away but he will have a great new home!!

Monkey Man

One of my best friends from college is going to have baby #2 any day now. The yet to be named baby boy (and boy #2) needs something new. With monkey bedding from Pottery Barn Kids he needed a super cute monkey of his own. I really loved the monkeys on Little Cotton Rabbits but she doesn't share or even sell her patterns. Boo!! So I searched high and low and found at patter from Fuzzy Mitten... it is close. I went with colors similiar to what Little Cotton Rabbits uses and I am going to skip the overalls and try to make him a little sweater in the orange yarn. I might have to modify a couple of toy sweater patterns but I think (hope) that it works! Here he is so far.

I am using Cascade 220 and am loving it. I tend to buy a lot of yarn at Michaels or AC Moore and it is nice to be using good yarn for a change!!

Finished projects

Since I know of 4 babies coming just this fall I have been knitting a lot lately. When I was pregnant with Miss K my sister made me a few washcloths from Wendy/Peter Pan's Velvet Touch and we have loved them. I have made them for several people but was getting tired of the pattern... k2, yo, k to end. I found this fish pattern on Ravelry and love it. Although it is pretty much the same pattern it is much cuter than a square washcloth. And when it doesn't turn out in a perfect square it doesn't matter!
A friend of mine is due with her first baby, a boy, right around Halloween. So for sure they needed a pumpkin hat! This pattern by Ann Norling is so easy. It is just knit in the round until changing to the green. I am thinking about making one of these for this winter for Miss K in a berry color.
